Prof. Dr. Jürgen Hesse passed away at the age of 83 on February 17 2023. Until his retirement he was the head of the Mössbauer Laboratory at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany. Among the Mössbauer community he has been known, first of all, as the author of the method for Mössbauer spectra analysis in terms of the hyperfine field distribution.
